Finn, Photon and Irrelevant were also considered
Adam “Adam” Maanane will not be on the affectionately dubbed "McDonald's roster" next season — until now, Adam has been one of the more notable casualties of this LEC offseason. According to Sheep Esports sources, the former BDS player will continue to compete against the EMEA League of Legends elite, having reached a verbal agreement with Rogue for the upcoming LEC season. If Rogue succeed in selling their LEC slot, this agreement will transfer to the purchasing organization — the owners are, per our sources, looking to sell the entire organization, not just their LEC slot.
Adam is the second player on Rogue's roster for the upcoming LEC season, set to play with veteran midlaner Emil "Larssen" Larsson. Still, according to our information, Finn “Finn” Wiestål could have retained his place in the toplane, having rejoined Rogue during the Spring 2024 split. Early in the offseason, toplaner Joel “Irrelevant” Scharoll was considered but the German player ultimately replaced Adam at BDS, as previously reported by Sheep Esports.
Later in the offseason, toplaner Kyeong “Photon” Gyu-tae was also considered for the position. Instead, though, the former Vitality toplaner joined Besiktas Esports in the TCL amidst uncertainty surrounding Rogue and the option of Adam appearing on the table for Rogue. Adam hadn't found a team yet, even at later stages despite exploring options in the LCK Challengers League and even the LFL.
Adam and the GODS
Adam has firmly established himself as one of the LEC's most notorious personalities. He made his debut with Fnatic in Summer 2021 after an extraordinary spring split with Karmine Corp in the LFL — his hyper-aggressive, carry-focused playstyle quickly distinguished him from his peers. In 2022, he moved to BDS, where he had a mixed year, even spending some time back in the French league. However, his overall level of play over the last two years has cemented his status as one of the region’s toplane staples.
In 2023, Adam was instrumental in BDS’s nearly flawless Spring Split campaign, dominating the split until a reverse sweep in the grand final against MAD Lions. That same year, Adam captivated an international audience at the Worlds in South Korea — the Worlds anthem, GODS, became synonymous with Adam, echoing the initials of his four signature champions: Garen, Olaf, Darius, and Sett. He heightened the moniker in their Worlds Qualifying Series victory, where he played Garen twice against Golden Guardians during the Worlds Qualifying Series.
In 2024, Adam further entrenched his position in the LEC. BDS thrived as a collective, boasting well-oiled synergy — still, the club never managed to break its glass ceiling, finishing all three splits in third place. This should have secured them a Worlds slot, but G2’s unexpected loss to MAD Lions in the Season Finals upper bracket placed the perennial kings of Europe in BDS’s path. Unable to overcome G2, the season ended on a bittersweet note for Adam and his teammates.
