Bin, Oner, Scout, Peyz and Delight might be a roster going all the way in the tournament
The first stage of the 14th edition of the League of Legends World Championship has just concluded, with eight teams advancing through the Swiss Stage to reach the Knockout phase, where everything will now be decided in best-of-five matches. Out of the sixteen teams that entered the main event, only half remain, and among them are numerous players who have impressed with their performances and showcased their incredible talent.
Sheep Esports has assembled its roster of standout players from each role, selecting five who made the biggest impact during the Swiss Stage. We've intentionally chosen one player per team to ensure the roster is diverse.
Bin (BLG)
If there’s one player Bilibili Gaming owe their success to, it’s undoubtedly their toplaner, Chen "Bin" Ze-Bin. Time and again, he has been the driving force behind their survival, rescuing the team from early elimination across multiple matches and against every opponent they have faced. Exploiting drafting errors from the competition, Bin has brought out his signature Jax in four of their eight games, reaffirming his status as the best Jax player in the world. Whether it’s with Jax, Gnar, or Rumble, Bin has consistently been the game-changer, saving countless teamfights with expertly timed flanking teleports that wiped out the enemy backline. His ability to absorb immense pressure from three to four players in the side lane has also granted his team significant map control and breathing room to operate. Bin is unquestionably the number one reason why the LPL's first seed remains in contention.
Oner (T1)
"We haven’t lost our goal to win Worlds, and we’re fighting for that. What matters most is winning together as a team," said Mun "Oner" Hyeon-jun right after T1's loss against TES in his recent interview with Sheep Esports.
The jungler had already been T1’s most consistent player this year, despite the team's challenging Summer Split. With a shifting meta and the decline of ADCs in the midlane, Oner has found much better synergy with his midlaner and support. Returning to his Vi, which he had set aside during the LCK Playoffs and Regional Qualifiers, Oner has become the quiet force that enables his carries to shine. He is the jungler with the highest gold difference at 15 minutes (+598), highlighting his ability to make impactful early-game plays that put his team ahead. Oner also played a crucial role in preventing G2 Esports from staging a comeback in Game 2, stealing the Baron and securing the victory that propelled T1 to qualification.
If he continues to make sharp plays like he did last year, there's no doubt T1 can make another deep run, possibly all the way to another championship title this year.
Scout (LNG)
Lee "Scout" Ye-chan is part of the first team to qualify for Worlds, and the only team that has yet to lose a Nexus since the start of the competition. With the highest KDA of any player at Worlds so far (23/4/37), he has proven himself to be a major carry for his team, playing four different champions in four games — Tristana, Yone, Sylas, and Galio. As the primary clutch factor, his lane dominance has secured his team most mid-game skirmishes, and he consistently finds the right plays to turn teamfights in their favor. His performance on Yone was the key factor in LNG's upset victory over BLG in Round 2. Although we've only seen him in four games so far, it’s clear that if Scout maintains this level of performance, LNG will be a formidable team to beat. He has become the symbol of the most surprising team at Worlds so far.
Peyz (Gen.G)
At just 18 years old, Kim "Peyz" Su-hwan continues to impress, living up to his reputation as a top-tier ADC in the competition. Dominating the laning phase alongside his support Son "Lehends" Si-woo, he stands out as one of the most impactful players on his team and its primary carry. Peyz has excelled in all five games he's played so far, even in their loss to HLE. Notably, he set the record for most kills in a single game during their victory over Top Esports, where his Kai'Sa secured 14 kills with only one death. He was also instrumental in Gen.G's Game 3 win over HLE, locking in Twitch in the final rotation and destroying the LCK Summer champions' hope. The pressure seems to roll off the young 2024 MSI champion. With a favorable quarterfinal matchup against FlyQuest, Peyz has the opportunity to further pad his already impressive stats in the tournament.
Delight (HLE)
Yoo "Delight" Hwan-joong proved himself to be the glue that holds the HLE roster together, allowing the team to perform this well. He delivered the most impressive play at Worlds so far, handing Gen.G their only defeat with a brilliant turn on Rell, catching four players with his ultimate. We can also look back at his mastery of Rakan against PSG Talon, where he danced effortlessly through the teamfights, creating huge space for his carries to clean up. Not only does he shine on engage supports like Rakan, Poppy, and Rell, but he also excels on defensive picks like Braum and Renata. His versatility is one of the many strengths of this well-rounded roster, and there’s a strong chance his clutch factor will deliver more spectacular highlights during the Knockout Stage.
