While League of Legends officially launched for free on October 27, 2009, the game had an Alpha phase that began in February of the same year. This Alpha featured 17 playable champions, making them the oldest champions in the game. In addition to these initial champions, Riot Games released 24 more throughout the year, their most productive, bringing the total to around 40 champions by the official launch. We’ve compiled a list of all the champions from the Vanilla version of League of Legends, complete with their original splash art, to give you a dose of nostalgia.
