The champion might be already known by lore's fans
A new champion should see the light of day on the rift but not right away on PC. For the first time since its launch, League of Legends: Wild Rift, the mobile version of League of Legends, is expected to introduce a new champion exclusive to the game. This is a major first for the game, which has so far released champions that were already featured in the original version.
In a teaser posted on the game's X account, we learn a few clues about this new character. It should be a female champion who would be a mage positioned in the midlane. We don't yet know if the champion will also be present in the PC version later, no announcement has been made on this point. League of Legends: Wild Rift has so far already had several exclusives, notably many skins, but this is a new step the game is taking to break free from its original model.
Early theories about the champion
Based on the clues provided in the X post, players have already speculated about the potential identity of the champion. Seeing the teleportation portal characteristic of the Bandle region in the photo, people expect to see a yordle. More specifically, a yordle already known from the League of Legends lore, as it would be Norra, a character known for being Yuumi's mistress.
This would not be Norra's first appearance in a Riot Games title. The character already exists as a card in the game Legends of Runeterra. It also appeared in Teamfight Tactics Set 12 as a playable legend. This would therefore be its third potential appearance in the game if this fan theory was confirmed.
Contrasting reactions
Although some people seem to appreciate the arrival of a new champion, other ones express their dissatisfaction in the replies to the post about the exclusivity granted to Wild Rift. A sense of frustration for fans of the PC version, even tough it's not the first time Riot Games has imported a new character without making it available in League of Legends. For example, the character of Arcane, Silco, had appeared in Teamfight Tactics' Set 6.5 without featuring as a playable champion in LoL before. The champion is set to land on the Summoner's Rift in 2026.
