Diable had spent two seasons with the organization’s first academy team
Nam "Diable" Dae-geun reaches the end of his ascent. After stints in the LCK AS and LCK CL, the AD Carry is set to debut in South Korea's premier league in 2025. On Wednesday, FearX announced the extension of his contract until 2026 and his promotion to the main roster, in the LCK. Diable had spent two seasons with the organization’s first academy team, FearX Youth (formerly SANDBOX Youth in 2023), finishing mid-table in both splits of the LCK CL 2024 and exiting in the first round of the playoffs each time.
These results are consistent with the organization's history in LCK Challengers since 2021, initially under the name Liiv SANDBOX Challengers. The academy team failed to qualify for any playoff phases during the 2022-2023 seasons and was also eliminated in the first round during both splits of the 2021 playoffs. As a result, FearX Youth have never secured a BO5 victory in league history, and Diable’s two seasons in the second division were therefore mixed.
First piece
The main team fared only slightly better in 2024. FearX finished 7th in the Spring Split, missing the playoffs qualification, and mirrored their academy team’s Summer performance by losing in the first round. KT Rolster later eliminated Lee “Clozer” Ju-hyeon and his teammates in the first round of the Regional Finals, the tournament that awarded the final two tickets to the World Championship in South Korea. Like FearX Youth and Diable, the main team therefore failed to win a BO5 throughout the season.
While several of the LCK’s top rosters—such as T1 and Gen.G—are already finalized, Diable marks FearX’s first offseason signing. He replaces Park “Hena” Jeung-hwan, whose contract expired on November 18 according to the LoL Esports' Global Contract Database. Song “Clear” Hyeon-min and Jeon “Raptor” Eo-jin remain under contract until 2025, but the organization has not yet confirmed if they will continue with FearX next year. Meanwhile, the remaining two members of the 2024 roster have already moved on: Lee “Clozer” Ju-hyeon has joined BRION, and Joo “Duro” Min-kyu will serve as Gen.G’s new support, as previously announced by the teams.
