GIANTX, Fnatic, Karmine Corp and G2 feature in our team of the week
Monday marked the end of the first week of the Winter Split 2025 regular season in the LEC, the EMEA elite of League of Legends. Only one team remains undefeated (3-0) at the top of the standings: GIANTX. While the entire team stood out, two players shone particularly brightly and earned their spots in our LEC Team of the Week. Meanwhile, strong individual performances from other teams also left a significant mark. Notably, two rookies made an impressive debut in the league, immediately making their presence felt.
Top: Lot
The Turkish player has made a thunderous debut in the LEC: three matches, three victories. Eren "Lot" Yıldız has been the slayer of Janik "JNX" Bartels, Adam "Adam" Maanane, and Kim "Canna" Chang-dong—three toplaners with very different playstyles—yet he consistently outperformed each of them. Playing three different champions, he excelled both in lane and during teamfights, showcasing his versatility. Beyond his individual prowess, Lot also stands out for his ability to create significant space on the map for his team, making him a key asset in their early success.
Jungle: Razork
Already regarded as one of the two best—if not the best—junglers in the league in 2024, Iván "Razork" Martín again made his mark during the opening week. While his Ivern in Game 1 felt more like a draft misstep than anything else, the Spanish jungler bounced back brilliantly in the following games. Given Skarner in Game 2, he dismantled Vitality in what was the most one-sided match of the week, and his Maokai in Game 3 effortlessly dominated against Team Heretics. Razork remains the backbone of his team, providing consistent support to all lanes through his exceptional pathing. He lived up to his reputation, enabling Fnatic to secure two comfortable victories with ease.
Mid: Caps
His team regained confidence with a crucial victory after starting the split with two historic losses for the organization. And Rasmus "Caps" Winther was at the heart of it. The European GOAT was the only one to consistently perform across all three games, thriving on carry picks: an Akali in Game 1 which Karmine Corp won’t soon forget, a Sylas in Game 2 that carried the weight of the team on his shoulders, and a much more comfortable Viktor in Game 3, which he capped off with a devastating pentakill, the seventh in his overall career. While this new roster’s start has been shaky, the Samurais can find reassurance in one thing: Caps remains the best midlaner in the region, and he wasted no time proving it.
ADC: Caliste
Despite a quiet Game 3 where he couldn’t fully showcase his skills, Caliste "Caliste" Henry-Hennebert was undeniably one of the most mechanically impressive players of the opening week. Movistar KOI will certainly not forget their Game 2 against him anytime soon, as his performance on Varus was universally hailed as one of the finest ADC showings in European League of Legends in recent memory. He erased any doubts about his ability to live up to his prodigy status and even held his own against Steven "Hans Sama" Liv in the opening game against G2. Clearly one of the players to watch in the coming weeks, Caliste has already established himself as a key factor in Karmine’s early success this split. Oh "Noah" Hyeon-taek could also have easily earned a spot in this week’s team, given his stellar performances across the first three games, reaffirming his place as one of the very best in his position in Europe.
Support: Jun
Yoon "Jun" Se-jun was the most consistent support player of the week and a key member of GIANTX, setting the tempo for his team’s games. His synergy with Can "Closer" Çelik was devastating in Game 3 against Karmine Corp, as the duo consistently maintained control of the map. He looks as clutch as he was last year with Fnatic but seems to have more freedom to roam the map, playing as if under less pressure. He’s making a clear statement to the league, which hasn’t seen a truly dominant support in quite some time. He’s already positioning himself as one of the players most likely to rise to the very top of his role this year.
