G2-BDS will determine who's going to face Fnatic in the LEC Summer Split grand final
LEC Summer Playoffs end this Sunday and with them the teams' final seeding going into LEC Season Finals that will decide two of the three teams Europe will send to Worlds of League of Legends. Sheep Esports wanted to give you some insight into what to expect from today's match between G2 Esports and Team BDS fighting to join the grand final against Fnatic.
BDS finally broke the BO5 curse
Yesterday, Adam "Adam" Maanane and his teammates have defeated Karmine Corp in their very first win in a best of 5 series in 2024. Despite having to go to game 5, they have shown some improvement in their gameplay after a rough start in their playoffs run. This win allows them to end at least this split in 3rd place which is also the worst placement of the team in any split this year, proving how consistent they have been throughout the whole year.
G2 as a clear favorite once again
Considering current shape of the Swiss team, G2 appears as a clear favorite in today's match. This is already the third time this year they face in a best of 5 series, and the second time in the Summer Playoffs where G2 swept them 2-0. In every single one of these confrontations, the Samurais came on top and slayed BDS pretty easily (3-0 in Winter, 3-1 in Spring). As BDS has shown some difficulties in their previous matches, it is expected G2 to show some dominance and Rasmus "Caps" Winther to access another grand final in his unique career.
The race for the LEC Season Finals doesn't really matter anymore as the top 3 teams in the Summer Split are already sure to be placed in the upper bracket. This is a clear advantage as a single win would be a synonym to Worlds qualification. But the stakes for the last two days of the Summer Split remain high: the winner will qualify directly for the Worlds.
