Champions Queue is expected to begin in about a week
About ten days before the Worlds Play-In, the current assistant coach for Karmine Corp in the LEC Žiga "Apples" Jereb announces the return of the Champions Queue, which will be available to all teams participating in the World Championship. The Champions Queue is an invite-only structured system in League of Legends that allows professional and high-level players to train in a structured environment. All eligible players will receive access to a server that schedules, tracks, and organizes matches between players. This will allow everyone to train in a competitive environment with and against other competitors.
This system was first introduced in North America in early 2022 and was tested globally for the first time during Worlds 2022. Since then, it has functioned in the same way for almost every international event organized by Riot Games. The invitees to Champions Queue should include:
- Worlds 2024 players (including substitutes)
- LEC starting players
- ERL players and LEC substitutes currently ranked Challenger on live servers in 2024
- Players from Worlds-qualifying leagues participating in a bootcamp in EMEA
- ERL players and former pros approved by the EMEA CQ player council
- Former pro players who competed in at least two splits of a region that qualified for Worlds 2024
Selected content creators will also be offered streaming access, though streaming will be prohibited during live Worlds broadcasts. For players, Champions Queue usually features integrated voice comms, an MMR system, and a redesigned Worlds-themed public leaderboard. We expect more concrete news shortly from Apples as the competition is very near.
