The crown jewel mid laner of the LCS is departing for the LEC
Joseph Joon "Jojopyun" Pyun has reached a verbal agreement with MAD Lions KOI, sources tell Sheep Esports on Saturday. The Canadian Midlaner will be the first-ever North-American talent to join the LEC. After a disappointing year on Cloud9, the 20-year-old prodigy is set to leave the LCS behind. Midlaner Kang "Saint" Sung-in was the second option MDK considered for the position. Other players such as Šimon "OMON" Řiháček and Kamil "Kamiloo" Haudegond also had discussions for the position.
In Spring 2022, his first LCS split, Jojopyun’s talent seemed to define the league — with Evil Geniuses, he won the first LCS trophy he was old enough to compete for. Only two years prior, he wasn’t even seriously playing the game: Until January 2020, he was an active Fortnite esports player — but less than a year later, at age 16, he was signed to the Evil Geniuses Academy team.
He’s one of the greatest talents North America has ever produced — a testament to the LCS’s oft-maligned development system. Next year, though, he’ll play in the LEC.
MAD Lions KOI allowed their Midlaner, Bartłomiej “Fresskowy” Przewoźnik, to explore options last week — they’ve now found his replacement.
