G2-FNC all time head-to-head is 32-20. G2 has won 63 games, FNC 39.
The rivalry between G2 Esports and Fnatic is one of the most popular and intense in the history of European League of Legends. Since G2's entry into the European League of Legends Championship Series (EU LCS) in 2016, these two titans have consistently clashed, creating some of the most memorable moments in esports. Both teams have established themselves as dominant forces in the scene, with Fnatic being the old king of Europe as well as a constant contender for the title and G2 becoming the most decorated organization in Europe. The head-to-head statistics between G2 and Fnatic reveal the fierce competition that characterize their encounters.
All-time Statistics
If we take a look on the overall statistics, G2 has the upper-hand for a long time now. The team has dominated the European scene for many years now. They are the most decorated organization in Europe, and even their biggest European rivals have bowed to them numerous times throughout history. And so, including BO1, BO2, BO3 and BO5, we currently count G2 to have beaten Fnatic 33 times while they lost 20 times since 2016. This includes 66 won games and 40 lost games. So G2 has a 62,3% winrate against Fnatic all-time.
EU LCS Era (2016 - 2018)
During this period of time, G2 lead by Luka "Perkz" Perković won both splits in 2016 and 2017 while Fnatic dominated in 2018, their best year to date incarnated by Carl Martin "Rekkles" Larsson. This was a pretty disputed period between the organizations to claim the title of king of Europe. This shows in statistics, as G2 won 8 matches and Fnatic 7 matches between each others, with 14 games won for G2 and 11 for Fnatic.
It is to mention format has been quite unique back in 2016 summer split, where Riot tested out a BO2 format and slightly favored G2 as they were stronger than Fnatic that year. Within this three years, here's G2-FNC track-record:
- Best of 1: G2 4-6 FNC
- Best of 2: G2 2-0 FNC
- Best of 5: G2 2-1 FNC
LEC Era (2019 - 2024)
In 2019 the league rebranded from the EU LCS to the "League of Legends European Championship" (LEC) - extended to EMEA in 2023. This year marks the transfer of Rasmus "Caps" Winther from Fnatic to G2, one of the most significant transfers in history. Fnatic, coming off a successful 2018 and a Worlds final, is losing its star midlaner to its long-standing rival. This will highly impact the rivalry and G2 will start dominating Europe very strongly as they would become the most entitled team in Europe and also become the first Western team to win the Mid-Season Invitational in 2019.
So in this era, G2 has beaten Fnatic 24 times while the Black and Orange only won 13 times:
- Best of 1: G2 13 - 9 FNC
- Best of 3: G2 2 - 0 FNC
- Best of 5: G2 9 - 4 FNC
The Samurais are best in every format and never let any title to Fnatic during this time. Actually, Fnatic managed to eliminate G2 from a split only once during all of these confrontations, back in 2021 with a 3-2 win.
G2 is the new King of Europe
G2 has managed to secure a notable edge in their head-to-head record, reflecting their sustained excellence and adaptation over the years. Despite Fnatic's domination before 2016, and their occasional dominance ever since, G2's strategic prowess and star-studded roster have often proved decisive. As both teams continue to evolve and compete, the saga of G2 vs. Fnatic promises to remain a central storyline in the annals of European League of Legends, with each encounter adding another chapter to this legendary rivalry.
