"I’ve been on teams with bigger budgets before, and while they offer more comfort, I believe with what we have at Disguised, we can perform at our best."
As the League of Legends Championship of The Americas North (LTA North) approaches, Disguised is preparing to enter the league as the new kids on the block. With former LCS champion Felix "Abbedagge" Braun at the helm, the team aims to make a splash in the newly rebranded league. In this exclusive interview, the German midlaner gives Sheep Esports a glimpse into the future, discusses his team’s aspirations, and bids a final goodbye to his former home, Karmine Corp.
How does it feel to return to North America as the midlaner for Disguised, a region where you previously won a trophy in 2021?
Felix "Abbedagge" Braun: "Honestly, I'm still trying to grasp the feeling of being back, you know. I'm back in the region where I won my first trophy. I'm really excited to be here again and to play in the LTA. I'm looking forward to this season. I'm just here to get a good result. I think my last appearances, whether in the LEC or North America, showed strong performances. I still believe I'm not at my peak yet, so I'm just going to keep working towards showing my best version.
What led you to join Disguised in the LTA, especially after your verbal agreement with Berlin International Gaming? What convinced you to choose this team?
Abbedagge: I had an agreement with BIG already because I was talking with some teams, but no one was ready to make the move yet. Then Disguised approached me, and I quickly learned about more about the organization and who were behind it. I found out their owner is Disguised Toast, who’s a streamer with a huge following and someone really into esports who supports his teams.
That’s the kind of leadership I like to see. I think it’s very important to have an owner who’s fully behind what you’re trying to achieve. I’ve experienced this before—with Karmine Corp and Kameto, and with 100 Thieves and Nadeshot, who were both really invested in seeing their teams succeed. I’ve always had good experiences with that kind of dynamic. So, I quickly knew this was the kind of project I wanted to join.
Since you were one of the first players signed, did you have a say in forming the roster?
Abbedagge: Yeah, definitely. It was basically me and Mash, who’s our head coach, trying to see what pieces would fit the roster the best. And I’m pretty happy with what we ended up with.
How was it navigating your verbal agreement with BIG? Were they understanding about you joining Disguised?
Abbedagge: Well, they knew what they were signing up for. Obviously, I felt a bit bad that I had to leave one team behind for another. I have friends in BIG, and I want to see them succeed as well. But in the end, you kind of have to take your best opportunity, and I’m sure they understand that. I still wish them the best for 2025.
How does it feel to reunite with huhi, who you played with under 100 Thieves in 2021? Do you think you two can help the rookies and less experienced players perform well?
Abbedagge: huhi was a big part of our success with 100 Thieves in 2021. I knew he was someone I wanted to play with again. He’s one of those players you want on your team because he knows how to create the right team environment and has a really good understanding of the game. It’s great to work with him again.
How do you feel about being on a team holding a guest spot in the LCS, knowing you'll need to fight for the spot in 2026 through relegation? With each of your team's members signed on one-year contracts as well, did this diminished job stability impact your decision at all?
Abbedagge: I don't really mind it. I think it’s fine that we have to prove ourselves and play the relegation. I think this new system brings interesting opportunities for the guest slot teams to prove their worth and what they can bring to the league. So, you know, I’ll roll with it.
Disguised is known to have a lower budget compared to other top LTA teams, and they played remotely last year in the NACL. How is the structure now for the LTA team, given the higher level of competition and the need for better infrastructure?
Abbedagge: You know, I’ve been on teams with bigger budgets before. They provide more comfort and a little more of what you need. But I really think with what we have from Disguised, we’re going to be able to perform at our best. Yeah, they’re a new org coming in 2025, so it’s pretty obvious they won’t have the greatest infrastructure, but I knew I signed up for that, and it’s completely fine. We’re just going to make the best out of it.
Disguised is known for signing mostly native North American talent, so what do you think gives you an edge on this team, especially with many rookies? What will your role be on the squad?
Abbedagge: I'd just say that I’m a veteran with a lot of experience, and I know what it takes to win a trophy. So, I want to use my experience to help lead my teammates to bigger successes.
With 6 imports and 2 locals in the mid lane pool, how do you assess the current level of mid lane talent in North America?
Abbedagge: We have quite strong mid laners here. Like... I’ve been scrimming for a week, and I think they’re quite good. I haven’t played in tier 1 for a year now, so it’s going to take me a little bit to catch up, but I’m definitely able to get there.
You're leaving Karmine Corp, a team that helped you get back on your feet after being teamless at the start of 2024. Do you have a message for their fanbase?
Abbedagge: I’m just really grateful for all the support that you guys have given me and our team last year. KCX was really great. I’ve met so many of you guys there, and every single interaction was a pleasant one. So, I just hope you guys have a great 2025 and stay healthy."
